The Digital Trainer is a general-purpose digital experiment board equipped with
different built-in circuits as well as a standard PB-501 breadboard. There are:
- 8 Data Switches - The data switch circuits provides eight DATA OUTPUT pins D1 to D8 whose output level is adjusted using slide switches.
- 8 Data Status Monitor - Has eight buffered inputs with LED indicators that show the current state of the inputs.
- 555-Based Clock Generator - The circuit is based on a 555 IC configured as an astable multivibrator. The signal is accessible through the OUT pin. An overlapping LOW (10 Hz to 500 Hz) and HIGH (20 Hz to 1 kHz) range switch is provided for frequency control as well as VR1 for fine tuning control.
- Pulse Generator - A monostable signal generator based on the 74HC221 IC. These are two outputs, pressing a switch generates a pulse across the corresponding output pin.
- Logic Probe - The probe displays the status of the signal fed across its input pins using three LED status indicators, one each for HIGH, LOW and PULSE.
- 5-Volt Power Supply - This supply is the same power source used for the rest of the modules such that the user need not worry about compatibility problems when using the built-in modules in the trainer.
Also available is the digital trainer kit for you to experiment on!

The PICMeTM Microcontroller Starter Kit is designed to give electronic enthusiasts an initial
application material in their prototyping and laboratory needs. The board supports the
PIC16F877A in the 40-pin DIP package. These controllers have a program memory built on
Flash technology which provides fast erasing and reprogramming, thus allowing a quick
debugging or error checking.
BOARD FEATURES:
- a powerful Microchip 8-bit MCU PIC16F877
- accessible I/O ports through dual purpose headers
- display LEDs, potentiometer and pushbuttons
- on-board 5V regulator and RS232 transceiver
- pocket-sized (2.5"x1.6") for easy mounting

ZiLOG TM-123 training module is specifically designed to help students
and engineers who want to learn and understand the ZiLOG Z86 microcontroller
programming and system design, particularly Z86E04 and Z86E08.
It is composed of three independent training modules — TM-1, TM-2 and TM-3. It features:
- Running Lights (TM-1) - The LEDs are connected to ports P2. Set or reset the port's pins to control the ON/OFF of the LEDs. You may control the sequence of lights displayed, or change the speed of running lights, or use the LEDs as a count up/down timer.
- 7-Segment LED Display (TM-2) - The common-cathode 7-Segment LED display is connected to ports P2. Set or reset the port's pins to control the ON/OFF of the 7-Segment. There are three switches (S1, S2 and S3) that may be programmed with user-defined functions such as to displaye the count on the 7-Segment.
- Relay (TM-2) - This built-in relay in TM-2 is connected across the P00 pin of the Z86E04's port 0. A high logic turns the relay on while a low logic signal turns the relay off.
- Buzzer (TM-2) - The TM-2's built-in loudspeaker and driver can be used to generate specific musical tones or beeps.
- 5x8 LED Dot Matrix Display (TM-3) - This exercise teaches the basics of displaying a message on a typical common-cathode 5x8 LED dot matrix display.
- Switches (TM-1, TM-2 and TM-3) - Each module of the TM-123 consists of three switches S1, S2 and S3 that may be programmed with user-defined functions to control the I/O ports. You may also use the switches as interrupt sources
A 500mA DC source of 8V to 12V is recommended as the power source for this
training module. The 7805 IC regulates the input voltage to 5V. This regulated
5V is the source of all modules. Each training module is provided with its own
power switch and LED power-on indicator. To use a specific module, switch on
both the main power switch as well as the on/off switch of the module to be
used.
Also available is the ZiLOG Emulator
that can help you in your Z86 programming. Since this training module was
designed specifically for Z86E04/Z86E08, which are both One-Time-Programmable
(OTP) devices, having an emulator to simulate the code instead of programming
it directly to the IC each time you compile, will definitely save you a lot of
time and money!

Using microcontrollers to create your own personal circuits is truly a
rewarding activity. However, it is sometimes inconvenient to start from scratch
and work with breadboards or so called solderless boards. This featured TM-5
module is a multipurpose cicuit originally intended as an educational module for
learning the fundamentals of microcontrollers.
This TM-5 circuit can accommodate Z86-based 7-segment display applications such
as counters, timers, scoreboards, games and even measurement or code
indicators. The pre-programmed Z86 included here can provide extended functions
by adding the appropriate external circuits.
